AFL Goulburn Murray chairman Peter Foott.

Peter Foott has been confirmed as AFL Goulburn Murray’s new chairman.

The 1992 Morrison medallist has taken on the job Nicholas Rolf stepped down from this year after moving to Castlemaine, near Bendigo.

Foott stepped into the role in an interim position, but was elected this month to be just the second chairman of the organisation.

Having been an inaugural commissioner of AFL GM and working under Rolf, Foott said he was ready to take charge.

‘‘Nicholas has been a fantastic servant to community football and has done an excellent job in setting up the commission over the past five years,’’ he said.

‘‘The commission has achieved some great outcomes across junior development, events and partner leagues.’’

‘‘I am honoured to be elected as the chairman and have faith installed in me by the other commissioners and I am looking forward to the role and to working with each of our stakeholders in the region.’’

After getting the nod to continue on with the commission in March, Greg Freer will be another AFL Victoria nominee for the organisation, while Helen Murdoch will join the Northern Country Women’s League advisory committee.
