Umpires, tribunals kept busy

June 06, 2018

A number of players across the region have gone into umpires’ books recently.

In the Murray Football League, four players were reported for striking across two matches at the weekend.

Katandra’s Brenton Riordan was cited in his side’s clash against Numurkah and subsequently accepted a two-match set ban for the indiscretion.

Shepparton East’s Dwain Vidler and David Gillespie were also given two-week bans after being reported during their team’s contest against Echuca United.

Both accepted the set penalties as well.

United’s Dean Moon was also reported on match-day, but the charge was later withdrawn.

A tribunal hearing will be held tonight to deal with a pair of Picola District Football League incidents from previous rounds.

Josh Evans has been charged with unbecoming conduct after an incident in Yarroweyah’s round seven win against Tocumwal.

Evans has since left the Hoppers and is playing for Stanhope in the Kyabram District Football League, but his case is likely to be adjourned as he is currently travelling overseas.

The other case which will be heard arose from a round eight contest between Katamatite and Strathmerton.

Tigers player Callan Aldridge was charged with making unnecessary contact to an opposition player.
