Shepparton’s BMX track will be rocking and rolling tomorrow as riders come from across Victoria for an action-packed day of racing.
The Shepparton BMX Club Open is the seventh round of this year’s BMX Victoria’s state series, with riders racking up points towards the overall standings of the 17-round competition.
With categories ranging from five and under sprocket to superclass, it is going to be a huge day.
Club publicity officer Levi Collins, who is competing in superclass, forecast serious action.
‘‘It’s a Victorian country event, everyone holds them around the state,’’ he said.
‘‘There’s plenty of riders getting along, there’s a few pros as well as plenty of amateurs as well.
‘‘It should be a really good event. You always want to win no matter where it is and there’s some good prize money on the line as well.’’
Collins is one of many locals keen to put on a good showing on the home track.
‘‘There’s a few guys locally who will be riding — some for the first time,’’ he said.
‘‘It’s good for the club to see those guys competing and the track is looking really good.’’
In the men’s superclass, locals include Cooper Bromley, Collins, Jamie Mahuika and Brandon May, while the women’s field has no local hopes.
The action kicks off at 10am, running until 2pm, with finals expected to start from 1pm.
‘‘It’s free entry, so if you want to see some good racing get down to the track,’’ Collins said.
