Congupna took it right up to Murray Netball League heavyweight Deniliquin on Saturday.
The Road battled hard all game against the Rams, but in the end fell just short of victory in the 28-34 defeat.
Lauren Orr and Brittany Orchard continue to fit in well at Memorial Park, while Hayley Hall, Ella Park and Eliza Eastman were prominent for Deniliquin.
●Cobram continues to show plenty of improvement this season.
The Tigers defeated Nathalia 57-32 in tough conditions and coach Jacquie Ryan was impressed with the consistency of her team across the court.
‘‘It was a pretty good performance actually,’’ Ryan said.
‘‘We’re a pretty young team and we’ve invested pretty heavily in our younger girls so it was good to see an overall team performance.’’
Keely Bond and Lili Murphy were among Cobram’s standout contributors in the victory, with the young duo important members of their side’s outfit.
‘‘It’s a good combination of experienced players and some youth that we’ve invested in,’’ Ryan said.
‘‘It’s good that it’s now resulting in a lot of competitiveness on the court.’’
Nathalia slips to 0-3 with the loss, while the Tigers have snared two victories from their three matches.
But the next few weeks could test Ryan’s troops, with a number of unavailabilities on the horizon.
‘‘We’ve got a few challenges ahead of us with a few girls missing over the next few weeks,’’ Ryan said.
‘‘It will probably test our depth, but that will be a good thing to know where we’re at.’’
