The district’s ever-changing football landscape continued to take shape with the Murray Football League announcing the first three weeks of its new-look fixture.
To accommodate the three incoming Picola District league teams, Shepparton East will host Tungamah this Saturday in a round two grudge match.
Katandra will have to wait until April 14 — round three — to enter the competition, hosting the Eagles after sitting out round two with a bye.
Existing Murray league teams’ schedules won’t change until round four when the new teams start tackling their new opponents.
The News understands the Murray league schedule will be stretched from 18 rounds to 20 to accommodate the incoming teams.
With 15 teams now in the competition, clubs will have bye weeks as well as the interleague and general byes.
Katandra and Tungamah won’t enjoy the luxury of the general bye on July 7, facing off against one another to make up for their missed round one clash.
A new fixture will be presented to clubs at a MFL board meeting tonight, where the entrance of the three clubs will be officially ratified.
Meanwhile, Dookie United’s first game in Kyabram District Football League will have to wait a week.
The club announced Tuesday it would have a bye in Saturday’s round one, allowing the league more time to work the club into the fixture.
