Shepparton Golf rocketed into Goulburn Valley Bowls Division midweek pennant title contention by taking full points at Shepparton Park.
It started the round outside the top four, but moved to second place with a 16-81 to 0-52 win against Shepparton Park 2.
Joanne Crowe’s rink won 28-13, with Kathy McPherson (30-17) and Kristine Wright (23-22) also delivering.
With fixtures to come against Mooroopna Golf and Rushworth, both bottom-four teams, Golf is in a strong position to progress to the post-season.
At Seymour, it was a disappointing loss for the home side against Hill Top.
Seymour went into the match level on eight wins with league-leading Shepparton Park 1, but slipped behind in a 2-45 to 14-71 defeat.
It was a big upset for the Hillbillies, the 14 points they took from the contest keeping them in finals contention with two games to come.
Jeanette Overall’s rink did the bulk of the damage to win its game by 18 shots, while Maria Warner’s rink wasn’t too far behind with a 12-shot advantage.
Rushworth moved off the bottom of the ladder with a 13-66 to 3-62 win against Kyabram.
Jean Sprague’s rink was the catalyst for the win, recording a 28-23 result.
The other rinks were thrillers; Suzie Perry’s and Maree Boswell’s rink played out a tie, while Kyabram’s Jennifer Dixon-skipped rink won by a single shot.
Mooroopna Golf and Shepparton Park’s match was washed out.
●Division two games between Hill Top and Euroa as well as Kyabram and Stanhope were rained out.
In division three, top side Seymour took care of business against Kyabram.
In a topsy-turvy game each team won a rink by 24 shots, with the third Seymour rink winning by seven shots to claim a 14-82 to 2-75 win.
Shepparton Park won 14-70 to 2-65 against Violet Town to keep its chances of finals alive in a log-jammed division, while Murchison v Rushworth and Shepparton RSL v East Shepparton were rained out along with all division four play.
Colbinabbin dealt with Avenel comfortably 55-37 in the only completed game in division five.
