Euroa has signalled its Goulburn Valley League premiership intentions after luring two potential key figures to the club.
Memorial Oval will once again be graced by the presence of ruck-forward John Ikupu, while VFL midfielder Oliver Tate has nominated the Magpies as his preferred club of choice.
Magpies playing coach JD Hayes was delighted Ikupu, who spent 2015 and last year at Euroa, would be returning to the club.
‘‘It is great news for us, he is exactly what we needed, a bigger body who can kick goals and also play in the ruck,’’ Hayes said.
Ikupu returned home this season to play in the Ellinbank District Football League with Warragul Industrials, but will once against don the black and white stripes.
The imposing figure kicked 29 goals in 38 games during his two-year stint, while Hayes was also delighted to welcome Tate to the club.
‘‘We were close last year and the fact that we can add another quality midfielder to our stocks really gives us a chance to push on again next year,’’ Hayes said.
Tate played 14 games for North Ballarat this season before making the move across to Williamstown this summer, but when requirements allow him, he too will be at Memorial Oval.
The Magpies will also welcome back centre half-back Adrian Karatzas from round one after departing mid-season to study in America.
Former Shepparton East midfielder and raging bull James Chittick will also make the switch from the Picola District Football League to join the Magpies, but they have had to make room for those coming in.
Brothers Brock and Trent Storer will depart the club to rejoin Tyntynder in the Central Murray Football League, while Rob Wilson also leaves for Violet Town.
