Tennis players flocked to the Shepparton Junior Classic at the weekend with Goulburn Valley talents doing the region proud.

Luke Turcato was crowned 16-and-under champion after doing battle with Will Rohde in the final.

Turcato claimed a 6-2 set win in the decider, but his success would go beyond that.

Turcato and Rohde then joined forces in the doubles and unsurprisingly the two strongest individual players could not be stopped.

Although the final was more of a marathon, Rohde and Turcato took out the boys’ doubles 8-4.

Ella Rohde was in fine form in the 16-and-under girls’ singles as she continues to take giant strides forwards.

She was the top player in her group, as Goulburn region representative Emily Schreck placed second.

Dhurringile rising stars Charlie Murdoch and Aaron Niglia were tested in the 14-and-under boys’ doubles, but still managed to come out on top.

Having defeated some tough opposition, on Sunday afternoon the pair was victorious following a 6-4 win in the final.

Niglia enjoyed a successful tournament, with a 14-and-under singles title also coming his way

Isabel Furphy and Scarlett York prevailed in the 12-and-under girls’ doubles, while Natasha Dodos took the spoils in singles competition of the same age division.

Adi Bhattacharya was the 12-and-under boys’ singles champion, with Rhiann Eddy claiming a singles title in the youngest age group.
