The Victorian Junior Speedway Championships were at Undera this month with more than 20 competitors converging on the town for the event.
‘‘It was excellent, we had representation from all over Australia,’’ Goulburn Valley Motorcycle Club president Leckie Milne said.
The annual championships brought riders together from as far as Queensland with two titles up for grabs.
Victoria’s Connor Bailey took out the 125cc title and South Australia’s Liam May took out the 250cc title.
‘‘Riders had five heats each and scored points to attempt to get a place in the final,’’ Milne said.
‘‘For the finals there wouldn’t have been more than 10m between first and last ... the races are over in a minute so you don’t have much time to think.’’
Milne said the sport of speedway was a technical one with the aim to be as fluid on the bike as possible.
‘‘The bikes have no brakes, no gears and just a clutch ... it’s about balance and counter-balance to get the most traction as possible,’’ he said.
The Goulburn Valley Motorcycle Club thanked those who attended including officials, competitors and parents.
