An all-Mooroopna affair headlined action in the Shepparton Junior Tennis Association.
The higher-ranked Mooroopna Cats White met Mooroopna Cats Blue, with Blue producing a sizzling performance.
But Blue’s best efforts could not stop it narrowly going down 5-36 to 3-32.
Molly Tancred was superb in the losing side, taking out her set in the girls’ singles without relinquishing a game.
Having jumped on board with Olivia Lear for a fantastic win in the girls’ doubles, Tancred was not able to clean sweep all her matches having been defeated in the mixed doubles.
Instead, Aiden Basile and Brock Ballintine were too strong in an entertaining contest, taking the set by two games.
Josh Mazzucco starred for Mooroopna Cats White, combining particularly well with Harry Crilly in the boys’ doubles win that gave White confidence for the rest of the day.
While the two Mooroopna teams were fighting it out, so were the two Shepparton sides in the competition.
But again ladder positions meant nothing as the second-ranked Purple only defeated sixth-placed Blue by eight games, 6-39 to 2-31.
Luke Turcato and Will Rohde opened up Purple’s account with a boys’ doubles victory, but Gemma Collins and Emily Turcato were busy gathering a set win for Blue.
Already three games ahead leading into the final sets, Purples’ win in both mixed doubles encounters led them to victory.
Kialla Park had a day out against Shepparton Lawn Red, as the unstoppable foursome of Robbie Mifka, Mitch Roche, Ellie Mifka and Sophie Smith continued their dominance of the competition.
Nathalia Lawn Aqua and Shepparton Lawn Green competed in the match of the round in division two singles.
Green came out on top as some fine efforts from Ben Okely and Lachlan Pearse ensured the 3-28 to 3-23 scoreline was in their favour.
