Craig Carley is ready to to take the reins as coach of Goulburn Valley Suns.

Craig Carley will take charge of his first Goulburn Valley Suns game next month.

The club announced its pre-season schedule with six games against National Premier League and State League sides in the lead up to round one, which kicks off in February.

The first-year Suns playing coach will lead his side against newly promoted NPL2 outfit Altona Magic at McEwen Reserve on December 16.

‘‘The club, Paul Uniacke and Shaban Mehmet have been fantastic at organising our pre-season games, there is a good mix of teams,’’ Carley said.

‘‘We’re in the mix of sorting out our play, so it is an exciting time for the club and really, like any coach, we just want to get into playing again.’’

Carley will lead the line against his former club, Avondale, while its second fixture could be against NPL powerhouse clubs South Melbourne or Green Gully.

‘‘That game is yet to be confirmed, but we are wanting to come up against a quality team; we have been in talks with a few of the better clubs going around at the minute,’’ Carley said.

Former Suns winger Ben Clarke will come up against his old side for Magic, while North Sunshine Eagles, Malvern City and Point Cook will also make the trek to Shepparton to play the Suns.
