Hamish hammers together a top-notch weekend double

Hamish Winter-Irving had a memorable weekend in Victorian Premier Cricket.

Former Central Park-St Brendan’s star Hamish Winter-Irving had a weekend to remember in Victorian Premier Cricket.

His side scored a thrilling two-wicket win on Saturday against Monash Tigers, who are captained by Katandra product Daniel Sartori.

The Tigers made 9-183 batting first, with Sartori making 17 opening the batting, while Winter-Irving was economical with figures of 2-30.

Footscray got home in the 48th over for its third win of the season, while the Tigers sit in 10th on the ladder with two victories.

On Sunday, Winter-Irving played a massive role in the Premier All-Stars team in their game with the Cricket Victoria Academy.

Winter-Irving, who is more renowned as a bowler, smashed an unbeaten 61 to help the All Stars to 7-301 from 96 overs.

Meanwhile, former Old Students and Karramomus player James Billington top scored for Prahran in a four-wicket win against Camberwell Magpies on Saturday.

Chasing 237 to win, Billington carved out an innings of 76 to set up Prahran’s third win of the season.

Former Karramomus player Josh McDonald made a quick-fire 22 for Geelong in its comprehensive win against Greenvale Kangaroos.

In second grade, Central Park-St Brendan’s premiership star Tyler Larkin was dismissed for 17 playing for Geelong, but his team still comfortably defeated Greenvale Kangaroos.

Larkin has been a stand-in captain of Geelong’s second grade team and has made a good start to the season, averaging 44.8 from four games, with two half-centuries.

Larkin’s former teammate at Central Park-St Brendan’s, Tom Chalkley, took a wicket and bowled well in Carlton’s third grade win against Frankston Peninsula.

In women’s cricket, Northerners teenager Teagan Brett made 12 for Prahran in a four-wicket win against Melbourne.

Prahran was chasing 232 for victory and got the runs in the final over.

Brett is averaging 53 with the bat this season from four games after hitting an unbeaten 43 in round one.
