Shepparton Gators sit atop the Country Basketball League north-east men’s division table after comfortably defeating Wallan on Saturday night.
In front of a strong home crowd at Shepparton Sports Stadium, the Gators began the contest with an 8-0 run and never looked back to record their third victory from as many matches.
The Gators were in control for the entire clash, leading by eight points at quarter-time, six at the main break, 15 at the last change and eventually 79-63 at the final buzzer.
Gabe Evans (19 points), Nick Dodd (18) and Josh La Batlus (15) led the scoring for the home side, but coach Josh Waight would have been impressed with his scoring options once more as Ryan Sarkady (eight), Dylan Wayman (seven), Liam Dodd (six) and Sam Beks (six) also got among the points.
The triumph for the Gators came after a weekend off and Waight’s charges will again have to put their feet up before their next match, a grand final rematch against Seymour on November 11.
After facing the Blasters, Shepparton then takes on Myrtleford the day after in another double-header weekend before again facing another stint on the sidelines.
At this stage, though, the interrupted fixture is not hampering the Gators at all.
