Murray Bushrangers has announced its pre-season under-18 squad.

The Goulburn Valley could be set to unearth its next budding star with the Murray Bushrangers announcing their pre-season under-18 squad, which is dominated by the region’s young talent.

The Bushrangers’ squad is represented by 40 clubs across 10 leagues demonstrating a wide number of talented individuals, however, 36 of the 100-odd athletes selected ply their trade across our local leagues.

Shepparton United headlines the list of invited applicants with nine Demons invited to train throughout pre-season, while Shepparton, Seymour and Mooroopna all have three players each.

Ed Adams, Zane Barzen, Jye Chalcraft and Kyle Clarke headline a list of United trialists, while Lachlan Ash, who played six senior games for the Bears, will be joined by James Butts and Hugo Ingham next month.

Shepparton Swans, Benalla, Shepparton Notre Dame, Euroa, Congupna and Rennie all have one representative, as does Longwood.

Liam Dodd and Charlie Hill will fly the flag high for the kennel, representing Tatura.

Bushrangers’ talent manager Mick Wilson has his eyes cast across a number of rising stars and feels it is a step in the right direction for his side.

‘‘Club staff began planning the 2018 list back in May with TAC Cup, Under-16 Country Championships, local football and interleague form all factored into the process,’’ Wilson said.

“Each of these young men has a fantastic opportunity to develop their football, fitness and personal attributes as they confront a variety of challenges across the pre-season.”

It is expected players who have been selected in the pre-season squad will receive further information regarding training schedules within the next week or so.
