Mooroopna, Karramomus, Pine Lodge and Euroa were on the winners list in Saturday’s Jim McGregor Shield C-grade round two.
Pine Lodge, who had the bye in round one, wasted no time in getting its season off to the best possible start, smashing 212 off 39 overs.
The hosts won with ease, bowling Old Students out for just 45 in 17 overs.
Steve Van Taarling (48), Hayden Cann (23), Jarryd Cutler (58) and Gurinder Singh (28) combined for 157 runs, while extras were the third best scorer with 35.
The Cats were too strong for Murchison at Pee Wee Young Oval.
Murchison won the toss and elected to bat, but crumbled for just 86 off 26.3 overs.
Michael Van Dorsser led the chase for the Cats, smashing his way to an unbeaten 47.
The stalwart hit six fours during his short stint at the crease as the Cats finished at 1-103 off 20 overs.
An even spread of Karramomus batsmen ensured it accounted for Dookie at home.
The visitors won the toss and elected to bat, but were dismissed for 104.
James Scott was the Dookie’s clear standout with 46, while eight other batsmen failed to reach double figures.
In the end, the Bloods cruised home to victory at 6-109, with Vinoth Kumar (35) top-scoring.
Declan Moreno did offer some fight with the ball for Dookie, producing his side’s best figures of 3-16 off eight overs, which included two maidens.
Tatura sent Euroa in and needed to make 182 to win.
However, Euroa came out on top after restricting its opponent to 6-106.
An inspired 75 from number six, Jake Smith, ensured Euroa posted a challenging total and it proved right, with Tatura failing to find a batsmen who could make more than 20.
