A strong bowling performance from Toolamba secured it a victory against Numurkah in SJ Perry Shield D-grade round one action.

Greg Watts (4-11) and Nicholas Williamson (3-27) helped restrict the Blues to just 98, with Steve Morris (29) and Joel Kimberley (28) the only shining lights in the innings.

Aidan Callegari then hit 34 (retired not out) to cement a strong seven-wicket victory in just 23 overs.

●Kyabram was able to chase down Mooroopna’s total of 6-113 in just 19 overs.

The Redbacks had Ross Brown to thank for the quick pace with the bat, who hit 10 boundaries in his innings of 58.

Earlier, Geoff Wood was the main scorer for the Cats with 49, while Kanwal Singh (Kyabram) was the best bowler of the day with 3-22.

●In other results, Invergordon chased down Tatura’s total of 98 with the loss of just two wickets, Undera defeated Murchison, Euroa defeated Karramomus and Shepparton United found victory against Dhurringile.

Knight’s day

Individual performances do not get much better than this.

Pine Lodge Whitelock Shield E-grade captain Travis Knight smashed 20 boundaries in an innings worth 105 runs at the top of his side’s order after it was sent in to bat.

The knock helped his team to a mammoth total of 8-263, but he was not finished there.

With Toolamba threatening to chase down the score, thanks to 105 from Nathan Baldwin, Knight brought himself on to bowl with damaging results.

From 5.4 overs at the bowling crease, Knight engineered a massive collapse to take 5-17 and win his side the match.

●Other results had Mooroopna defeating Old Students, Katandra beating Central Park-St Brendan’s and Northerners taking the points against Dookie.
