The annual St Brendan’s Netball Carnival drew 60 teams from across the Goulburn Valley to celebrate a big milestone.

The tournament took place for the 30th time, as blue skies were a welcome change for organisers after enduring a wintery week.

Carnival co-ordinator Janene Moroney said it was a fantastic turnout for the event with teams from Deniliquin, Kyabram and Mansfield in attendance.

‘‘It was really good, everyone came out and we had a really good day,’’ she said.

‘‘It ran really smoothly and we were really pleased because we had a lot of under-9 and under-11 teams, so it’s well supported by up-and-coming netballers.’’

The tournament is the major fundraiser for St Brendan’s Primary School, with the majority of primary schools in the region setting aside the August weekend to enter teams.

Deniliquin claimed the under-15 and under-13 primary section of the tournament, while Goulburn Valley Grammar won the under-13 secondary division and Orrvale Primary School was triumphant in under-11 division.
