Yarrawonga’s Frazer Droop dealt with a moist Mooroopna golf course best on Monday, taking out the Reliance Partners Mooroopna Trainee Pro Am.
‘‘I’m pretty happy with the win because I got done by a shot last week,’’ Droop said.
The 20-year-old shot a four-under-par 69, to take out the prizemoney ahead of more than 70 golfers from across the state.
A third generation golfer, Droop said he hoped to make a career out of the sport, with plans to head to tour school in Asia after he becomes a qualified PGA pro.
‘‘I’m a third generation golfer, Dad is the head pro at the Yarrawonga Golf Club and his father was before him,’’ Droop said.
‘‘I had a bogey-free day today and got to play with the sponsors, who I knew, which was a bit of fun.’’
Golfers from Cohuna, Phillip Island, Albury, Geelong and Portsea competed in the event, with a purse of more than $2000 up for grabs.
Equal runners-up were James Betts and Ben Murphy who shot three-under-par 70.
