Who wants last two spots?

August 17, 2017

It will be a battle royale between Tallygaroopna and Avenel on Saturday in the Kyabram District Netball League.

With September action just a few sleeps away, Saturday’s clash between Tallygaroopna and Avenel could shape as a potential grand final preview.

The Kyabram District Netball League is heating up with four clubs — Undera, Murchison-Toolamba, Violet Town and Merrigum — vying for the last two finals positions.

But the battle between the Redlegs and Swans proves most crucial.

The Swans could claim the minor premiership should they beat the third-placed Redlegs, but if they do not, they are every chance of dropping to second.

Julie Telford’s side lost their first game in 12 weeks last round after they felt the full force of Nagambie and she will be after a strong response.

Meanwhile, the Swans have won three straight, but they have not been pretty.

The league leader has won by four, 14 and one goal in the past three weeks, but the reigning premier knows how to get it done during the business end of the season.

Nagambie could pinch top spot should it handle Ardmona and the Swans lose.

The Cats have not won since round three, while Longwood is in a similar boat and hosts Murchison-Toolamba.

The Grasshoppers are fighting to keep their finals hopes alive having won nine games and they are likely to reach double figures on Saturday.

Rushworth and Girgarre play for pride, as the battle between 10th and 11th will not alter their ladder positions.

The Tigers sit two wins better off than the Kangaroos, while Lancaster could move further away in ninth should it win a fifth straight match.

But that will not be easy as the Wombats travel to face fifth-placed Undera, which has won six of its past eight matches.

Stanhope will be aiming to cement fourth position when it hosts a Violet Town side fighting for a finals berth.

The Towners sit seventh and only one win outside the top bracket with everything to play for this weekend.
