Good drop of Red leaves Maroon stranded

Shepparton Notre Maroon was unable to extend its under-16 season, going down to Kyabram Red in an elimination final on Sunday.

The Bears were in touch at half-time, but the Bombers produced a dominant second half to win 12.6 (78) to 7.7 (49).

Riley Ironside was the star for Kyabram with seven goals, while Jayden Fitzgerald, Aidan Robinson, Sam Plumb, Jack Nevill and Cody Harrison were in top form.

Ethan Baxter, Andrew Pellegrino, Jack Moylan, Will Rohde and Blake Hanna were excellent for the Bears.

●Shepparton Notre Gold fared better, winning its elimination final with Kyabram Black by 17 points.

The Bears were in command after a tight first quarter, with Orien Kerr, Zak Wikman, Ethan Batey, Connor Hangan, Connor Michel and Harry Brodie (three goals) playing well.

Mitchell Gugliotti, Tom Burnett, Nixon Torney, Ryan Cox and Charles McCormick were Kyabram’s best.

●Shepparton United Blue earned a week off after winning an enthralling battle with Shepparton United Red by 23 points.

Blue started well and could not be caught, with Alou Kuol, Wil Norman, William Baker, Sheldon Bogdan and Blake Fothergill leading by example.

Red’s best were Ethan McLaren, Bailey Pearson, Robert Mifka, Jakob Butcher, James Brock and Damien Pigatto.

●Mooroopna showed why it won the minor premiership, scoring a convincing 35-point win against Echuca White.

The Cats were best served by Aidan Basile, Samuel Ward, Nicholas Bedwell, Domenic Gugliotti and Meafou Pele, while Echuca had good contributions from Matthew Lias, Will McGlone, Mitchell Wales, Joseph Guiney and Finlay Chivers.
