Shepparton Sport Stadium has a busy calendar and continues to attract big-ticket events.

The basketball events calendar at Shepparton Sport Stadium is filling up at a rapid rate.

Basketball Victoria Country announced this week Shepparton will host an under-14 regional qualifying event for the 2018 Country Championships, as well as trials for the National Intensive Training Program, Australian Country Junior Basketball Cup and Victoria Country under-16 and 18 state teams.

This adds to an already stacked calendar which includes an under-14 Gold Nugget Camp next month and the under-16 and 18 division one and two Country Championships in February.

Greater Shepparton Basketball Association manager Tony Long was delighted with the region’s ability to draw big-ticket events to the area.

‘‘It is fantastic for the association, these events will bring a number of people here to the town and all of them will spend money, so it’s sensational,’’ he said.

‘‘It’s certainly a kudos that people like to come to this area and run events like these, so it is fantastic for us and the town.’’

With plenty of local talent sure to be showcased during the trials, Long also said the location gave them every chance of making it through to the final representative squads.

‘‘It’s always great for our own kids to trial in our own area, it’s definitely an advantage,’’ he said.

The qualifying event will be held on November 11, while the trials will take place on October 2 and 3.
