Super Cooper dines on nine

August 02, 2017

Bailey Paarson (pictured) and Jhett Cooper were on-song for Shepparton United Red against Kyabram Black at the weekend.

Shepparton United Red recorded a huge victory against Kyabram Black allowing it to build a one-game buffer in second position in under-16 competition.

Demons stars Jhett Cooper and Bailey Pearson blitzed their opposition during a well fought-out 63-point Shepparton District Junior Football League victory.

Cooper was as accurate as ever kicking nine goals to keep up his remarkable record this season.

The United forward has kicked at least three goals in every game he has played, taking his yearly tally to 58.

Cooper Vick and Brenton Brasier were the Bombers’ multiple goal-scorers.

●Shepparton Notre Gold overcame a half-time deficit against Shepparton United Blue to claim the four points at Congupna Recreation Reserve.

Inaccuracy from the Demons prohibited them from leading at quarter-time, as they continued to create plenty of opportunities in the second term.

But United could not hold on to its nine point buffer at the main break despite the best efforts of Blake Fothergill and Mitchell Roche.

Instead it was four goals to Nick Healey and two to each of Zak Wikman and Andrew Lloyd that helped the Bears to their seventh win of the season.

●Tatura stayed with Rochester for much of the match before the Tigers ran away with the game in the final term.

Corey Reardon, Nicholas Watt and William Pyke were all superb for the Bulldogs, although the class of Hugh Hamilton and Jack Oogjes made the difference for the winners.

●Top side Mooroopna was tested by Echuca White, but still claimed the victory having kept the Murray Bombers scoreless in the first quarter.

Bailey Whittaker (three goals), Henry Wedding (three) and Aidan Basile were influential for the Cats.

●Shepparton Notre Maroon was well led by Jedd Johnston, Max Anderson and Jonah Thomson in its defeat of Echuca Green.

Johnston and Luke Turcato each scored three goals in the win.

●Kyabram Red secured a dominant 116-point victory against the Shepparton Swans with Bombers star Riley Ironside kicking a bag of five, while Dylan Macfarlane was the Swans’ sole goal-scorer.
