A host of young Shepparton basketballer will start their elite pathway journey later this year.
Nine Greater Shepparton Basketball Association under-12s will represent Basketball Victoria Country at a four-day jamboree camp in September.
‘‘It’s fantastic to have the kids there on the elite pathway going forward,’’ GSBA manager Tony Long said.
‘‘They’re all excited and they will certainly enjoy it.’’
The camp is designed to develop the skills and talent of each player while providing a stepping stone towards future state and national accolades.
Almost 1000 basketballers attended one of nine under-12 skills days events on the weekend, from which 240 jamboree invitees were chosen to attend the camp close to home.
‘‘They only have to travel up to Echuca this year which is good,’’ Long said.
Harry Brown, Xavier Janke, Kade Thomas, Jack Whitlock, Matt Whitlock and Deacon Woods have been included in the boys’ Victoria Country Development team for the Jamboree, while Diaz Barzen, Mackenzie Clark and Holly-Rose Egan are three of the 120 female under-12 athletes to garner recognition for their potential.
