Longwood after two straight wins for first time

Rushworth is hoping for a return to form when it meets Longwood on Saturday. Pictured are Rushworth players Shayne Lynch, Rob Osborne and James House.

Rushworth will be hoping it can repeat a round three drubbing of Longwood when the two sides meet again on Saturday.

The Tigers took the honours in that clash by 97 points, but have struggled to string good performances together since defeating Undera the week after, losing nine successive matches.

Before a week off due to a scheduled fixture against Ardmona the Tigers found themselves on the end of a 75-point defeat against Tallygaroopna.

Playing coach Jason Hucker (three goals) tried hard in the loss, along with Jacob Perry (two) and Michael Telford, but more Tigers will need to stand up and be counted.

For the Redlegs, an avalanche of goals against Undera last week paved the way for their first victory since June 6 last year.

Nick Brown will hope his troops can harness that momentum and bring it to Saturday’s clash in order to snare back-to-back wins for the first time in the club’s Kyabram District Football League journey.

Braydon Kearns booted six majors against the Lions, but Anthony Tautala (five goals) hurt his hamstring during the triumph and could be sorely missed.
