Bombers strike Gold

There was plenty of action in the weekend's under-16 matches of the Shepparton District Junior Football League.

Shepparton Notre Gold almost reeled in a big quarter-time deficit in its under-16 match against Kyabram Black.

But the Bombers hung on for their seventh win of the Shepparton District Junior Football League season by nine points as Ethan Palma-Ludeman booted five goals to take his season tally to 51.

Blaine Burke, Zak Wikman, Rhylan Thorne, Harry Brodie (three goals), Orien Kerr and Max Rikys worked hard for the Bears.

Ladder leader Mooroopna continued on its winning ways, defeating Shepparton Swans by 26 points.

Samuel Ward, Dustin Blake, Lochlan O’Brien, Tom McCarty, Henry Wedding and Jai Carn were outstanding for the Cats, as were Ty Sutherland, Will Dwyer, Josh Rachele, Scout Matthews and Mitchell Trevaskis for the Swans.

Shepparton Notre Maroon was plagued by poor kicking at goal against Shepparton United Red, as the Demons triumphed by 49 points.

Robert Mifka, Jhett Cooper (six goals), Harry Smith, Damien Pigatto and Nicholas Rossignuolo were standouts for the Demons, while Andrew Pellegrino, Jedd Johnston, Ethan Baxter, Blake Hanna and Elijah Kilmartin battled hard for the Bears.

Shepparton United Blue was successful in defeating Kyabram Red by 28 points.

Kade Chalcraft, Mitchell Roche, Adam Pummeroy, Wil Norman and Blake Fothergill were influential in the Demons’ victory, while Kyabram was best served by Cooper Gentle, Jayden Fitzgerald, Cody Harrison and Samuel Elliot.

Tatura went down to Echuca White by 55 points at Victoria Park .

Corey Reardon and Jack Groves booted two goals each for the Bulldogs.

In the final game, Echuca Green was taken down against Rochester by eight points.
