The Lakers sit on 52 points and are only two percentage points worse off than their rivals, despite having played one less game than the Swans.

However, the Swans were without playing coach Tegan Hansen, who is overseas, on Saturday, but a win against the reigning premier can only give them confidence heading into the back end of the season.

Meanwhile, Stanhope is on a streak of its own, having accounted for Murchison-Toolamba in a battle between fourth and fifth.

Following their 45-40 goal win, Kerrie Gray’s Lions have won seven straight games as they look cement themselves inside the top six.

The Lions only won two of their first seven games, but they are one of the teams to beat after turning it around.

Undera proved too strong for Ardmona, winning 57-27.

The Cats have failed to register a win since round three and that victory came against bottom side Girgarre.

The Kangaroos fell short of Violet Town 50-42 on Saturday, giving the Lions their fourth win in five weeks.

Scoring machine Tallygaroopna netted another 74 goals to defeat Rushworth by 45.

Julie Telford’s side has won eight games in a row and has scored 319 goals in its past four matches

The Redlegs have netted 164 goals more than competition’s next best side this season.

In the round’s final clash, Merrigum defeated Lancaster 43-22.
