Nifty Neville can’t help Roos win

July 03, 2017

Stanhope's Adam Auld continues to impress for the Lions after returning from injury.

Jackson Neville bagged four goals for Girgarre, but it was not enough to help his side across the line against the finals-bound Stanhope.

Neville kicked half of his side’s majors, but the Lions had three multiple goal-kickers to bring up their eighth win of the season.

Taking the game by 15 points, Brenton Gray’s men were not allowed to rest easy in the final quarter.

Having put four goals up until three-quarter-time, the Kangaroos kicked the same amount in the final term to outscore their opponent.

But Jack Exell’s three goals as well as Alec Young and Thomas Hepburn kicking two apiece had Stanhope too far ahead.

Adam Auld also continued his stellar run for the Lions after returning from injury.

Murchison-Toolamba was travelling along nicely against Nagambie with a 10-point lead at half-time paving the way for an upset.

But the Grasshoppers were blown out of the water in the third quarter as the Lakers kicked five goals to storm in front at the last break.

Finishing the game 31-point victors, Mathew Waterson was on target finishing with six goals with Kyle Winter-Irving and Michael Shiels the Lakers’ other multiple goal-kickers.

Jonathon Cooper and Tom Kerrins were among those who helped Murchison-Toolamba remain competitive.

Tallygaroopna and Violet Town were this week’s mammoth winners in the Kyabram District Football League, with the Towners running over Undera by 222 points.

Ashley Hobbs brought his goal-kicking tally to 36 with a haul of seven on Saturday, while Robert Staff and Lochlan Morrison each chimed in with six.

Nicholas McAuliffe and Nathan Frizzell toiled all day for the Lions, who only managed three behinds.

Tallygaroopna shared the ball around in the 50 against Longwood as 14 players got their name on the scoreboard.

Sam Muggleton led the pack with five in Tally’s 186-point rout.
