The Goulburn Valley Suns’ junior sides were given a lesson on Sunday, with Springvale White Eagles winning all five games in Shepparton.
The under-13, 14, 15, 16 and 18 Suns tested themselves against the metropolitan side and it was the White Eagles who proved too strong.
On aggregate the scores finished 16-3 in favour of the visitors, but Suns technical director Shaban Mehmet said development was more crucial.
The under-13s were outclassed 2-1 as Declan Kinnane chipped in to score the Suns’ only goal and his third for the season.
Meanwhile, Josh Dimit was again the Suns’ only scorer in his match, with the under-14s losing 3-1.
The under-15s and 16s were the only two Suns teams not to score during 2-0 losses and as a result, these age groups sit in 15th and 12th places, respectively.
A depleted under-18s took to the field and the lack of depth showed, with the visitors comfortably winning 7-1.
Fergus Wilson was the Suns’ only contributor on the scoreboard, with a host of under-15 and 16 players stepping up to fill the void.
The Suns will be hoping to move on from last week’s results when they host Bentleigh Greens on Sunday.
