Shepparton driver Garry Jacobson will compete in Australia’s most iconic bloodsport event after signing on as a co-driver in the V8 Supercars.
The reigning Dunlop Super2 Series champion will partner Jason Bright at the Supercars endurance races this year.
Jacobson, who is part of Prodrive Racing Australia’s Super2 line-up, will share the mega-backed Ford car with Bright at Bathurst and on the Gold Coast.
Jacobson, 24, expressed his delight to motorsport.com about joining the Supercars.
‘‘It is an honour to be given the opportunity to drive alongside Brighty in the Supercars main series as a co-driver,’’ he said.
While quite inexperienced, Jacobson could not wait develop more as a driver this year.
‘‘It’s exciting for me to gain even more experience in these cars and it shows that the team trust in my ability and trust that I can do the job on the day,’’ he said.
The former Goulburn Valley Grammar student will make his main series start no later than the Sandown 500 in September.
