Goulburn region finished sixth at the Minter McNamee Cup in Melbourne across the weekend.
Competing against nine of the other districts, Goulburn came third in its group to progress to the play-off for fifth and sixth position.
Olivia Quigley, Charlie Maude, Sean Olsen and Jessica Dalton represented the region at the 17-and-under mixed competition.
The team of 16-year-olds were all in the lower age bracket, but still managed to win two of their four group matches.
Goulburn’s most spectacular win came against Central Highlands when just one game separated the two sides.
Splitting the sets three apiece, Goulburn held its nerve to secure a nailbiter 3-29 to 3-28.
A more convincing victory came against Loddon Campaspe as the side allowed its opposition just one set victory to win by 14 games.
Northern Mallee and Central Gippsland proved the strongest in the five team group, with both sides prevailing against Goulburn.
Central Gippsland went on to take out the tournament as Goulburn lost a play-off against East Gippsland to finish sixth.
The Minter McNamee Cup is one of nine regional team events Tennis Victoria runs each year.
Goulburn will next send a team to the 15-and-under Bradtke/Luczak Cup in Traralgon in June.
