Undera hosted the Australian Speedway Solo Championships this year.

Undera has hosted the Australian Speedway Solo Championships this year, now the attention turns to pairs racing tonight.

Fast riding coupled with intense tactical decisions will be on display for the solo best pairs competition at Undera speedway.

While Australian stars begin to head back overseas for the European season, Goulburn Valley Motorcycling Club spokesman Alan Jones was still confident of a supreme show on the track.

In doubles competition, two pairs take to the track for each race as they try and outsmart their opposition to gain the maximum four points.

Jones said the tactics of the race draw interest from fans.

‘‘The pairs are very different to the run of the mill singles,’’ he said.

‘‘Two pairs race each other and what happens is you have a bit of team play going on in your head.

‘‘It all starts at the start line and at the gate the best (individual) in the team takes the lead and the partner gets behind you to try and fend others off.’’

The solo best pairs competition was an open event with riders from 17 to competitors in their 40s taking part.

Also adding to the excitement was be sidecar racing, which Jones said created more interest in the event.

‘‘It’s excellent. I rode it and it’s a good thrill, spectators love them,’’ he said.

The small town of Ardmona will be well represented in the sidecar event with two sets of brothers competing.

Ashley and Mitch Duncan will go head to head with Sam and Luke Anderson as the two teams take on other duos from across the state.

Racing starts at 7.30pm tonight with tickets $25 for an adult, $16 for concession and $50 for a family.
