Winning starts to carnival

Kane Goldsworthy started the match off strong with some great bowling.

Murray Valley and Goulburn Murray will look to capitalise on great Bendigo Country Week form as they take on Melbourne’s best this week.

Another showdown is off the cards, though, as the associations play in different divisions at Melbourne Country Week, with Murray Valley in division two and Goulburn Murray in division three.

The former started its tournament in fine fashion, defeating Yarra Valley easily after some great bowling from Kane Goldsworthy.

The Cobram-Yarroweyah United product was miserly as well as dangerous in his 10 overs, taking 5-14 to help bowl Yarra Valley out for just 90 inside 33 overs.

Cobram gun Taylor Pugh chimed in with 2-14 and a run out to clean up the tail and put his side in a strong position.

Murray Valley had no trouble in passing the total before piling on the pain to record 7-220 in 67 overs.

Goulburn Murray also began the week with a bang, dominating Seymour in its first round match by posting 261 after winning the toss and batting.

Seymour never looked like chasing the total down, crumbling to 96 all out.

Goulburn then chased more bonus points with a quick-fire 3-53 to finish.

Murray Valley plays Hamilton today, while Goulburn Murray has the bye.
