Blight to host flag deciders

FOOTBALL: Blighty will host the Picola District Football League north-west grand final on September 9.

It is Blighty’s turn on the league’s rotational finals system, in which all clubs get the chance to host the season decider.

Clubs that are awarded the preliminary final in a season miss out on hosting any finals the next year, but then get to stage the grand final.

Schultz to wear famous No.5

FOOTBALL: Moama’s Lachie Schultz, 19, is making his mark so much at VFL level that he will don Williamstown’s famous number five jumper this season.

Outgoing Seagulls champion Cameron Lockwood decided Schultz was the perfect choice to take over his jumper.

Schultz moved to the VFL after a breakout season with Moama in 2015 as the Magpies made an unlikely run to the grand final, with the teenager starring in the losing deicder to Nathalia.

Cochrane Blighty’s youngest coach

NETBALL: At the age of 21, Blighty netballer Molly Cochrane has made history by becoming the youngest A-grade coach for the club.

It is just another feather in the cap for the star shooter, who has previously coached the under-15s in 2013 and the under-17s in 2014.

A natural leader, Cochrane could not let the chance to coach the side she loves slip away.

‘‘I’ve been around the club for ages, so it’s great that they have the trust in me for the role,’’ Cochrane said.
