Home track comfort chance for Fricke to make move

January 11, 2017

Home advantage: Mansfield's Max Fricke will be keen to rack up points at Undera tonight.

Mansfield’s Max Fricke is ranked fourth at the Australian Speedway Solo Championships, but will be looking to improve on that tonight.

Competing on his home track at Undera, the Goulburn Valley Motorcycle Club product is presented with a prime opportunity to gain some valuable inroads.

Sitting fourth on 25 points, Fricke trails Queensland’s David Watt by seven points as the championships enter the penultimate round.

Fricke finished outside the top four in round one of competition in South Australia, before a second place at Mildura on Saturday greatly improved his outlook.

Mildura-based rider Justin Sedgmen occupies second on the tally, with NSW’s Sam Masters three points behind in third.

Fricke took out the under-21 solo speedway world championship in Poland last year and was keen to impress in front of a home crowd.

He finished on the podium of last year’s Australian titles, coming third in a tournament where just three points separated him from the top gong.

The final round of this year’s competition will take place in Kurri Kurri, NSW, on Saturday.
